In 1939, the Abe and Esther Mast Family from Sugarcreek, Ohio traveled to New York City to compete on Major Bowes' Amateur Hour, radio's best known talent show, and one of the most popular programs broadcast in the 1930s and 1940s. Along with Abe and Esther were their performing children: Kenneth Eugene, Marilyn Jean, Bertie Lou, and Wanda Mae. Abie Lee, age 1 at the time, was simply along for the ride.
